Mixing something soft with something a little more edgy can really make a statement. Or try adding sparkle in the form of jewelry and pairing it with something that looks a little less feminine.

In celebration of their success, they decided to collaborate in a 50^th anniversary celebration. Starting July 24^th, you can purchase pieces from the mini collection of Mets inspired apparel, designed from members of the CFDA, at Citifield. Those designers for this collection are: Billy Reid, Yigal Azrouel, Rogan Gregory & Scott Haan (from Loomstate) and Jeff Halmos (from Shipley and Halmos).

What ever you wear, make sure that you have the best accessory you can carry with you: Sunscreen. Although that tan may make you look sexy, the effect of the golden brown skin may not have the results you wanted. Even with darker skinned individuals, sunscreen should be apart of your every day regimen.

For years, in fashion, we said “brown is beautiful”  but with recent awareness on our environmental changes and cancer developments, we have been shown what the sun can really do to our bodies and earth.

     Python, Cheetah, Leopard, Tiger, Zebras... Oh My! However you say it or however you wear it, animal prints are out there. They can come in your traditional colors: neutral tans, browns, greys and blacks or in vivid bright colors.

“The Touch, the feel of cotton; the fabric of our lives.”  These are the words you hear in TV ads for the cotton industry. So my question is: “what about organic cotton?” Cotton is a natural fiber, so isn’t all cotton organic?
     Merriam-Webster dictionary defines organic: ”a (1) : of, relating to, or derived from living organisms (2) : relating to, yielding, dealing in, or involving the use of food produced with the use of feed or fertilizer of plant or animal origin without employment of chemically formulated fertilizers, growth stimulants, antibiotics, or pesticides <organic stores> “   

            Many of us have a heighten awareness of what “organic” means when it comes to our food, but what about our clothing? Often times, when you are shopping in stores, you will see labels with “certified organic” and you think you are doing something good for you and the environment, but it can be misleading.

So this week, instead of picking trendy items, I decied to focus on some "eco-friendly" fashion to tie in with the post I just wrote about "Green Fashion".

My suggestion is some elegant pearl earrings. Nothing says, "Mom, I love you and you deserve to look beautiful!" like a pair of pearl earrings.

     It's Friday and here in New York, the weather has been GREAT! So this week's picks all have the color Green in commen. As I have been showing the last few Fridays, color is fun and important this season. Tones of greens are mixing in with other brights but also huge in accessories like bags and jewelry. Nothing like wearing some navy and white and grabbing your griant green hand bad. It can be a great pop color.

     America has been starving for something new and exciting.  The Hunger Games trilogy feeds into what you crave in drama, action and romance. The book series has not just captured the attention of the teens, that is was intended for, but also adults can’t resist the sci-fi story either.

Reality Bites....

Fashion Star

     This week, the show “Fashion Star” premiered on NBC at 9:30pm, on Tuesday. It was an hour and a half show of fashion boredom.  Designers selected to be on the show, had to create a signature look, for a 3 outfit runway show. The buyers of: H&M, Macy’s, and Saks Fifth Ave were then given an opportunity to bid on the outfit that will be offered at their stores. Highest bid won and featured the clothing in their stores the next day.

So New York has been experiencing some pleasant weather lately. So with all this great weather, comes "spring thinking"! Yes, "Spring Thinking" ... not Spring Cleaning. Cleaning is for another posting.

So some of the fabulous things that comes with spring and summer is COLOR. I love color and brights are truly on trend right now. One color that is springs to mind is "Orange". It is fresh and can be blocked with tonal oranges or crisp whites.

An Evening With the Stars...

 It always amazes me how many little things help create the story of a movie. Movies can show your worlds you have never seen, share moments with strangers and make you forget your troubles. It is all the people from sound, to staging that help develop the adventure.

Fashion Week



     This week is Fashion week, here in New York. My Fab Friday pick of the week comes from the Ready to Wear Elie Tahari collection that was shown on February 15th. Maybe I am partial to the collection because it featured the color blue everywhere. Not just any blue, but a vibrant cobalt blue color. It is one of my favorite shades of blue.
     This particular outfit has a stunning leather jacket that have great angles that draw the eye in different directions. The deep denim pant and the bright cobalt shirt off-set the deep blue color of the jacket.

     Fridays I usually leave aside for one fashion item that I think is great, but this weekend is Superbowl Sunday and I feel compelled to show you a few items that I like for women.

Spring 2012 trends

Spring is in the air...
I am so excited to see the new bright colors that will hit the stores and the streets in a few months. Right now, there is not too much out there but I have a few things that I was able to find on the net from the runways.

     Although on the East Coast, it is still chilly and we are still dressing in layers, the spring season is around the corner and stores will soon turn around their product.  So I have done a little internet research and began pulling runway photos of the trends that I can see for the up-coming Spring 2012 season.

     January 15th was the Golden Globes and all the stars came out. Some of the red carpet trends consisted of neutral colors or bold color choices. Every week, I am going to high-light an outfit, garment, or trend that I find fun, every Friday. So if there is something that catches your eye, please let me know and I may post it as my Fabulous Friday style of the week.

This week, I would love to point out color block dresses. They are fun, colorful expressions that can high-light your features, depending what colors are placed on your body. This dress from Tory Burch is lovely. I love the mixing of a soft color with bright. If you want to down play your bust, wear your bold color on your bottom. This dress is bold and sophistacated.
