It's that time again! Fabulous Fridays!
So this week, instead of picking trendy items, I decied to focus on some "eco-friendly" fashion to tie in with the post I just wrote about "Green Fashion".
Finding GOTS Certified clothing is difficult, but if you really want organic, you need to ask the questions and do your research. Many companies like to throw out words like "certified organic" but the lines are pretty blurred when it comes to organic clothing. Even when you see clothing made from bamboo, you are not getting something that is "organic and natural". Bamboo is hard in nature but in order to make it into a pliable fiber, they must boil it and chemically treat it. It can sort of be considered a synthetic, by the way it is made into clothing. Even clothing that has 100% Certified cotton may be mixed with lycra spandex or lined with 100% polyester. So you should pay attention to the details.
So some of the items in the picture above are "certified GOTS" goods:
*Organic Bathrobes from Bathrobeonline- found on Amazon.com $89.95
*Organic Hoodie and tees shirt from Gramicci on http://www.gramicci.com/ : Hoddie is $33.75 and the Tee shirt is $28.50
*Organic baby clothing set from Maple Company on Amazon.com $49
*Organic baby hat from Maple Company on Amazon.com $9
Now not that all clothing that is partially organic is bad. I mean, in order to have certified orgainc cotton, it must be harvested and grown under the regulations of the government to be certified organic. Now this is still important to the environment as it does cut down on the pollutants that come from harsh pesticides that would normally be used during farming.
So go shopping and go green. Doing the right thing is never easy, but baby steps to a cleaner future is better than nothing at all.
Happy Shopping!
