Starved for Fashion?... Hunger Games has what you crave!

The Hunger Games
America has been starving for something new and exciting.  The Hunger Games trilogy feeds into what you crave in drama, action and romance. The book series has not just captured the attention of the teens, that is was intended for, but also adults can’t resist the sci-fi story either.
If you have read the series, like I did, you are eagerly waiting to see it on the big screen this Friday, March 23rd. As a reader of the books, I long to see the scenery and the fashions come to life, through the magic of movies.  If you read the books, the descriptions of the Capitol’s fashions amazed us and being able to finally see “The Girl on Fire” dress,  is the most exciting thing. How the author describes the dress has been a topic of discussion for a while.

In Style asked a few of their favorite designers to do some sketches of the famous dress.

Like Twilight & Harry Potter, the popularity of the books has spilled into the popularity of the movie.  It has already committed four movies to this book trilogy- like its predecessors.  Although this movie has not been officially released, there has been “thumbs ups” from critics and the marketing for the film has been endless. You can see posters, clothing, accessories, cook books, and jewelry. I believe that the 2nd film. “Catching Fire” has already been announced to release November 2013.

If you are really into the books, The Hunger Games has a FACEBOOK page that leads you to the official site of the Hunger Games teasing you with fashion and novelty items inspired by the book. You can also apply for a District ID Card to determine what district you are from, with your photo on it. Also you can watch trailers and other fun things related to the movie. http://www.thehungergamesmovie.com
You can find some of the items pictured above at Etsy, Cafe Press, and Ebay. Don't exclude your stores like Hot Topic and Spencers because I am sure they carry some great pieces to wear, in order to show your pride in the Hunger Games.
Now if you are reading this and have no idea what The Hunger Games is about… Suzanne Collins, author of “The Hunger Games”, “Catching Fire”, and “Mockingjay” wrote a story of a girl in a post-apocalyptic time in North America., which now called Panem.  Broken up, now into 13 districts, the Capital controls the districts and holds their annual Hunger Games, where children ages 12-18 are chosen from a lottery, to fight to the death. Two are chosen from each district. All 13 districts of Panem are mandated to participate and watch the events unfold on television, every night of the games.  When the little sister of the character Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, is chosen, Katniss volunteers at Tribute to participate in the games, in her place.

The main character, Katniss is a character that many can relate to; especially young girls. Because she is depicted as a strong indvidual, it is a character you are always cheering for, during the games. She is her family's provider, she is a hunter, and as Peeta says, "She had no idea, the effect she can have." Her strong will and inability to let others get in her way is inspiring. She makes the district of Panem fall in love with her, just as Peeta and Gale have fallen in love with her.
They are quick reads and all the action takes place quickly. For those that seek a little romance, it does have a place here with the main character Katniss and her games partner Peeta. Also her best friend Gale also comes into play with her affection. I highly recommend that you read the books. It has a little bit of everything for all ages and personalities.
So, “May the odds be ever be in your favor!” and Happy Shopping!
