Target: The Power House of Retail

Target the New Power House of Retail

Once again, my favorite store is teaming up with more new and innovative companies. Coming to a select number of Targets will be “mini boutiques” with their own dedicated space and shelving for their products.

Target’s attempt to team up with specialty stores that offer limited edition merchandise is innovative. They will carry products from dog biscuits to platform shoes.

“This puts Target at the frontier of what’s next in retail”, said Brian Robinson, director of fashion and design partnership at Target in a presentation in NY. “With (these shops), we are building on the sense of discovery by offering our guests a chance to experience stores and boutiques through collections that have been specifically tailored to their wants and needs.” (Bloomberg.com)

Also this week, Thursday Jan 12th, Apple announced that they too, will also have a special “Mini boutique” of their own, located in Target stores.

In a report by the NY Times, Dustee Jenkins, spokeswomen for Target describes it as “expanded displays of the Apple Products. No much else was revealed about what Apple will feature specifically in Target’s stores.
Although, apple products such as the iPad and iPod are currently in Target stores, they do no sell Apple computers. They have not confirmed that this will be included in the new small shops of Target, but that may be a feature they are exploring.

This week, they officially announced the following shops that they will feature in their stores:

The Privet House: located in Warren and Greenwich, CT. They feature vintage furniture and home accessories. They describe it on their site as “warm, relaxed, inviting… a chock-a-block with treasures”

The Webster House: located in Miami, Fl. They are multi-brand boutique that is dedicated to luxury sportswear and young designers for men’s and women’s clothing and accessories.  The unique art-deco architecture of their store, homes contemporary fashion and unique space for their and gallery and corporate office.

Polka Dog Bakery: located in Boston, MA. A unique bakery that is dedicated to create delicious and luxurious treats for dogs.

The Cos Bar: located in Aspen, Colorado. The shop features body care products, cosmetics and beauty products. They feature brands like Bobbi Brown, Channel, and Lancome.

The Candy Store: located in San Francisco, CA. Every child’s and adult’s dream to have the candy they crave all in one place. This boutique features candy from the past and present in old fashioned jars. You can find your licorice, gummies, sours, and chocolate in one store.
It is said that May 6th will the launch date of the new Mini shops in Target. They will be featured in about 25 stores for about 6 weeks. There will be 400 new products ranging from $1 - $159.99.

I am truly amazed and excited about the new shops. It is so creative how they bring such fun and affordable products to the everyday consumer. I personally go to Target once a week for some of my groceries, house hold items, cooking supplies, and now they have the fashion I love. It has become a true “one stop shop” for the average person.

Happy Shopping!
